Embracing the Sacred Thread in Communion with the Mystic.
As an artist, Varsha Patra is guided by an unwavering curiosity and a profound appreciation for traditional art and craft forms from around the world. Committed to the preservation of heritage textile techniques, she actively engages in experimentation, continuous learning, and knowledge-sharing with skilled artisans, ensuring these invaluable crafts endure for future generations.
SUTRĀKHA is an artistic expression woven through threads.

Aari hand-embroidery, also known as Khatla-work, is a remarkable textile art that utilizes a single hook-needle to create vibrant motifs on fabric stretched over a wooden frame. Varsha, a talented textile designer and pen-and-ink artist, masterfully combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, drawing inspiration from Chintz, Gond art, and natural patterns. With over 30 years of experience and a background from NID Ahmedabad in Textile Design and Fine Arts, she has dedicated her career to preserving and advancing these age-old techniques. Her latest project, ‘Sutrākha,’ showcases the intricate beauty of Khatla embroidery, exemplifying the artistry of Aari handwork while seamlessly blending it into modern art and lifestyle products.
